Exclusive: In a unique twist Kriti Sanon and Farhad Samji are both part of two different movies – starring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar!

It’s exciting and unique for any director or actress or producer. In an unusual development, Kriti Sanon will be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Bachchan Pandey and apparently, also opposite Salman Khan in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. Both films are being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Farhad Samji and both are expected to roll this year! Some felt that Akshay's tongue-in-cheek tweet wishing Salman, Sajid and Farhad for Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali was a way of showing that there is no friction but all is well between them.

While Bachchan Pandey, will have a Christmas release in 2020, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’s release date has been announced as Eid 2021. Now it remains to be seen how the date diary of Farhad and Kriti will be adjusted to fit into two big movies, involved the two top stars, Salman and Akshay, of our times. A trade source says that the announcement of Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali has set the film industry and Akshay, Salman and Kriti fans abuzz with talk. “Kriti is known as a lucky mascot today as many of her films including Housefull 4 have turned out to be huge successes at the box-office. While Sajid Nadiadwala, Akshay and Farhad have already announced Kriti as the female lead opposite Akshay in Bachchan Pandey and now, it’s rumoured that Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali also has Kriti on board opposite Salman. Interestingly, if Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali is shot from this year, Farhad will be directing two films in a year – back-to-back – with the same female lead. He has earlier worked with her in Housefull 4.”

 

Sajid and Salman have apparently, locked the script of Kick 2 and writer Rajat Arora is working on the screenplay. But here is another twist to the tale. The source says, “Kick released on Eid (2014) and the original plan was also for Kick 2 to hit theatres in Eid 2021. But now, Salman, Sajid and Farhad have announced the release date of Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali on Eid so Kick 2 may get an earlier or later release date. There is also a question of which movie Salman will begin shooting for – Kick 2 or Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. Radhe will release on Eid this year in May and the only film that he has announced till now is Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali as Kick 2 has not been officially announced. One has heard that Sajid and Farhad’s team is working on a one-line concept of and developing the script of Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali at present. Farhad has his hands full with both the scripts – as a writer and director.”

 

The source adds that Akshay Kumar’s date diary is full too. “He is the busiest star today with the maximum number of releases lined up – and more signed till next year. Apart from dates, every film has its own marketing and promotional campaign which stars need time to dedicate to. While Akshay has begun shooting for Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s grand historical Prithviraj, he is also completing the shooting of Raghava Lawrence horror-comedy Laxmmi Bomb. Prithiviraj is a film mounted on a massive scale so it will take time to shoot and will have Akshay in a certain look. It’s a tightly packed schedule for Akshay this year till 2021. Prithviraj will release during Diwali 2020 while the release date of Bachchan Pandey has been announced for Dec 25, 2020.”

 

Akshay’s next releases this year are Rohit Shetty’s cop drama, Sooryavanshi, which is followed by Laxmmi Bomb. “Once Laxmmi Bomb is complete, he will begin shooting for Ranjit Tiwari’s Bell Bottom. There’s speculation that he is also in talks for Aanand L Rai’s next with Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan and a Karan Johar production. So, it remains to be seen when Akshay begins shooting for Bachchan Pandey as the movie’s release date has already been announced. Having said that, he’s one of the most organised stars of today and should be able to fit in everything. Most probably, he will begin shooting for BP from June this year.”

 

Unless Salman’s Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali rolls from next year, as to which movie Bachchan Pandey or his, the speculation will continue. Will Bachchan Pandey release on Christmas this year or be on the backburner given Akshay’s many movies – only Sajid, Farhad and Akshay can tell.
