EXCLUSIVE: Ananya Panday talks about joining Shahid Kapoor on stage for Bappi Lahiri tribute at IIFA Awards night

Last evening was truly star studded in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi as Bollywood stars graced the red carpet of IIFA after two years. Post the pandemic, this has been one of the most awaited nights of celebration and party and needless to say, it was attended by the who’s who of the industry. Newbies Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday among others seemed thrilled to be a part of the event. In fact, Ananya also gave her first live stage performance last night. As the actress walked the IIFA red carpet in a beautiful white saree, Bollywood Hungama caught up with her exclusively right before all the fun and drama.

Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, about her performance, Ananya Panday revealed that she will be performing on her song ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, an old classic that was recreated for her debut film Student Of The Year 2. On the other hand, she also revealed that she is looking forward to see Sara Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor’s performance. “I'm very excited to see Sara and very excited to see Shahid because he is doing a tribute and because, I might have a little special appearance,” she quipped.

 

Shahid Kapoor and Ananya Panday performed together on stage as the former paid a tribute to Bappi Lahiri. Besides rehearsing with Nora Fatehi, the Jersey actor also rehearsed with Ananya Pandey for their special dance number which was also a part of the same tribute.

 

 

On the other hand, speaking about how composed she looked despite it being her first performance on stage, Ananya mentioned, “It’s all an act. This is a part of my performance. But on a serious, I think it's important to enjoy the moment for any performer. I think I realized this at IIFA Rocks yesterday because all the singers were having so much fun, the crowd was having so much fun, so I thought I should have fun too.”

 

Ananya Panday also said that she was quite excited to see the hosting of the fun trio – Salman Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Maniesh Paul. “Oh my god, I'm really excited for the hosting bit. I just want to sit in the audience and laugh all night. That’s my plan,” she concluded.
