Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam has 5 cameos with one smashing mid-credits appearance that left the audience surprised

After several years of wait and month-long promotions, Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam released in theatres on October 21. The film is set nearly 5,000 years after Black Adam was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—he (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world. While the film introduces the Justice Society of America for the first time, it also has several obvious cameos and a few blink-and-miss ones in the movie.

Here are the five cameos that left the audience surprised in the theatres.

 

VIOLA DAVIS – AMANDA WALLER

 

 

Last seen in The Suicide Squad, Davis reprises her role of Amanda Waller in Black Adam. She sets up the Justice Society Of America after Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb after a nearly 5,000-year slumber.

 

DJIMON HOUNSOU – SHAZAM

 

 

In case you missed Djimon Hounsou, he reprises the role of the wizard Shazam who bestows Black Adam’s son with mighty powers.

 

HENRY WINKLER – ATOM SMASHER

 

 

One of the many surprises was seeing Henry Winkler return as the original Atom Smasher. In the movie, Noah Centineo, who takes on the role of young Atom Smasher, is seen talking to his Uncle Al who is Henry and was the original superhero.

 

JENNIFER HOLLAND – EMILIA HARCOURT

 

 

The actress makes a surprise appearance as Task Force X member Emilia Harcourt in Black Adam. Following her appearances in Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad, the actress was working at Amanda Waller’s secret base for Task Force X where several DC characters are held captive.

 

HENRY CAVILL – SUPERMAN

 

 

One of the biggest surprises came with the appearance of Henry Cavill who reprised the role of Superman. The audience was roaring in theatres upon seeing Cavill return as the iconic character for the first time since 2017’s Justice League. In the mid-credits scene, Superman meets Black Adam and says he wants to talk to him. Speaking to Collider, Dwayne said, “It got to a point where collectively, I want to say myself, Danny and Hiram (Garcia), we said, "Here's how the movie should end. And I'll give you one further, test it, and if it doesn't work, we'll never talk about it again. Test it." We shot it, to their credit, new leadership. They saw it and said, "We don't even have to test it."

 

The screenplay is written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, based on characters from DC, based on characters created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. The film’s producers are Beau Flynn, Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia, with Walter Hamada, Adam Schlagman, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Chris Pan, Eric McLeod, Geoff Johns and Scott Sheldon executive producing.

 

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collett-Serra. The film released in theaters on October 21 in English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.
