As Dunki releases, Shah Rukh Khan interacts with the media for the FIRST time in 5 years: “We keep on talking too much about mass-oriented or content-oriented films. I think films are entertainment-oriented”

Shah Rukh Khan, at one point, regularly gave interviews to the press and even answered their queries at events or premieres. The star has stopped doing so in the last few years. He hasn’t given an interview since his last film, Zero (2018). He was a part of the success parties of his recent blockbusters, Pathaan and Jawan. But he didn’t take any questions from the media. Hence, the media persons were in for a pleasant surprise when the PR team of Dunki asked them to send questions that they would like to ask SRK, actress Taapsee Pannu and director Rajkumar Hirani. The trio recorded their replies to media questions and as expected, it has made for a great watch.

Shah Rukh Khan was asked at the very beginning whether Dunki could revive the success of content-driven films at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan smiled and said, “I think we analyse films a lot. We keep on talking too much about mass-oriented or content-oriented. I think films are entertainment-oriented. Kisi bhi tarah se woh hamare dil ko bhaaye, entertain karein, chahe jo bhi un films ka topic ho. I don’t think that Jawan or Pathaan were mass cinema. They were just entertaining films. Aur jab entertaining ki baat hoti hai, I don’t think there has ever been a more entertaining director than Rajkumar Hirani.”

 

SRK continued, “What I have learned in the last 8 years, usse pehle main nahin samajta tha, is that films are a director’s medium. We actors and others all play our parts in it and we try to be as good as we can in the films. But it is a director’s medium. Inshallah, Dunki will be a very entertaining film. Hopefully, lots and lots of people will watch it. Because lots of people watch Rajkumar Hirani’s films. Aur aaj kal meri bhi dekh hi rahe hai!”
