When Shahid Kapoor was signed as the third lead of the historical romance drama Padmavati, it had fueled up several rumours. While these speculations about an alleged rift between him and the other male lead Ranveer Singh has now been put to rest with both actors appreciating each other’s work, the film too has kick started in full swing. Lavish sets, grand war scenes and the preps for all these have already been wrapped up as Shahid Kapoor starts shooting for Padmavati from today. The actor took to social media to announce the same and shared this picture of him on Instagram while travelling to the sets of the film. He captioned it, “Day 1. #padmavati wish me luck guys.” Shahid Kapoor will be seen in the role of a king for the first time as he portrays the role of Rajput Raja Rawal Ratan Singh.

 

This is the third collaboration of Sanjay Leela Bhansali with his favourite on screen pair Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. However, the film will not see this couple coming together since Deepika plays the role of Shahid’s wife whereas Ranveer plays the negative role of the cruel ruler Alauddin Khilji.

 

Produced by Viacom 18, Eros International and SLB Films, Padmavati is slated to release on November 17, 2017.
