Releasing in direct opposition to DEVDAS is the long-awaited Abhishek Bachchan starrer SHARAARAT. The fact that it is being pitched against DEVDAS doesn't seem to worry Jayantilal Gada, the world right controller of SHARAARAT. "I was persuaded by friends to shift the film's release since it was clashing with DEVDAS, but I wanted to remain firm on the release date since I had announced it well in advance and didn't want my exhibitors to suffer as a result. In any case, SHARAARAT is a film that belongs to an entirely different genre," Gada says. Does the not-so-happening market status of Abhishek Bachchan worry him? "Not at all. The strength of the film is its story and Abhishek has given a sensitive performance, which cannot be overlooked," he says. Gada is releasing his film with just 50 prints all over India. "That's because the film is the kind that will pick up gradually with word-of-mouth publicity. More than anything, it has a social message for the young generation, who often end up neglecting their old parents in the fast pace of life," he says.
