Following the positive response to Pati Patni Aur Woh Do and the commercial success of De De Pyaar De 2, the actress recently opened up about the kind of roles and films she hopes to pursue moving forward.

Speaking about her evolving choices as an actor, Rakul shared that she is now consciously looking for characters that challenge her creatively and leave a lasting impact on audiences. “I want to do meaty, meaningful roles, and I want to challenge myself with every film. I don’t want to be repetitive or do films just for the sake of doing them. Every role I take up should leave some kind of impact, and I think that’s where I am right now,” the actress said.

Rakul also revealed two genres she is particularly eager to explore in the future. Talking about the kind of projects she hopes come her way, she said, “I’d love to do a historical or a proper love story. Those are two genres I haven’t really explored yet.”

The statement reflects the phase Rakul currently finds herself in professionally — one where she appears focused on balancing commercial entertainers with performance-oriented roles. Her recent projects have showcased her versatility across genres while also helping her establish a stronger footing in mainstream Hindi cinema.

Her latest release, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, directed by Mudassar Aziz, has been receiving appreciation for its entertaining narrative and ensemble performances. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana alongside Wamiqa Gabbi and Sara Ali Khan in key roles. Released on May 15, the film has resonated with audiences, with Rakul’s performance especially garnering attention.

Earlier this year, Rakul was also seen in De De Pyaar De 2, co-starring Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan. The romantic comedy sequel, which hit cinemas on November 14 2025, emerged as a strong commercial performer and further added to the actress’ successful run at the box office.
