Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has expressed confidence in his son Junaid Khan’s instincts as an actor, saying the young performer possesses a strong understanding of cinema and script selection despite facing an early box-office setback.
In a recent interview cited in a report by Variety, Aamir Khan spoke about Junaid Khan’s evolving career and praised his independent approach to choosing projects. “He has a sharp sense of cinema, of script, of editing and he is quite strong-willed,” Aamir said while reflecting on his son’s creative instincts.
Junaid made his acting debut with the Netflix film Maharaj, which received attention for its historical narrative and performances. He later starred in the theatrical romantic drama Loveyapa, opposite Khushi Kapoor. Although the film generated some buzz, it failed to perform well at the box office, something Aamir has acknowledged publicly. Despite that setback, Aamir revealed that Junaid’s career is already moving ahead with new opportunities. “Junaid does not consult me about anything he takes on,” the actor said, adding that his son has already signed two additional films. One of the upcoming projects is reportedly linked to producer Ekta Kapoor and will be connected to the Ragini MMS franchise, also featuring Tamannaah Bhatia.
Aamir also shared a personal anecdote about Junaid from his childhood, recalling how he taught him to play chess at the age of four. “He first beat me when he was 18, Now, however hard I try, I can never beat him,” the actor said, describing his son as someone who steadily improved through patience and determination.
Meanwhile, Junaid is also preparing for the release of Ek Din, a romantic drama backed by Aamir Khan’s production banner and co-starring Sai Pallavi. The film is reportedly inspired by the Thai movie One Day and will mark Sai Pallavi’s debut in Hindi cinema. With multiple projects in the pipeline, Junaid’s career appears to be gathering momentum, as Aamir continues to support his son while allowing him to navigate the film industry on his own terms.
