Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has clarified the real reason behind the postponement of Ikkis, the highly anticipated Bollywood war drama starring his grandson Agastya Nanda. Contrary to widespread industry speculation that the film’s release was delayed to avoid a box-office clash with Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar or Kartik Aaryan–Ananya Panday’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, Bachchan hinted that the decision was rooted in astrological advice.
The film, originally scheduled to hit theatres on December 25, has now been moved to January 1, 2026. Bachchan shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), writing in Hindi that Ikkis was first set for “25th” but will now release on “1st” as some astrologers indicated it was an auspicious shift for the film, while urging everyone to embrace the change.
This explanation stands in contrast to earlier reports claiming the makers had pushed the release to avoid intense competition during the Christmas weekend, when Dhurandhar continues its historic box-office run, and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is set to premiere.

Ikkis is a pivotal project for Agastya, marking his first major theatrical release after his debut in The Archies. The film is based on the real-life story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, and celebrates courage and sacrifice. Alongside Agastya, the cast includes Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia, making her acting debut. The late Dharmendra also features in the film, adding emotional weight as his final screen appearance.
