There have been clashes and there will be clashes. However, 2018 will go down as truly special since at last count there are at least six high profile clashes waiting to take place. Majority of top superstars in the country would be fighting it out and one just hopes that it actually turns out to be good news for the industry.
Let’s take a look.
Salman Khan v/s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan [Race 3 v/s Fanney Khan] – June 15
The one that is bound to find the most hype going around it would be the one between Salman Khan’s Race 3 and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Fanney Khan. Salman and Aishwarya share history and one expects media to have a field day when they take on each other. Eid is home territory for Salman Khan and with Anil Kapoor playing the title role of Fanney Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the leading lady and Rajkummar Rao adding his weight as an actor par excellence, this clash would be one of the most awaited in 2018.
Shah Rukh Khan v/s Ranveer Singh [Dwarf film v/s Ranveer-Rohit’s next] – December 21
Christmas 2018 is set to be special since Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L. Rai are collaborating for a film which has so far been tagged as plain and simple ‘dwarf film’. Well, there is more to add on to the celebrations since Ranveer Singh would be directed by Rohit Shetty for an action ‘masala’ entertainer which is being touted for Christmas release too. Wait, there is more! Abhishek Sharma has made his intentions clear that with Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, he would be ready with his Kedarnath for the same slot. With Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma joining SRK, this Christmas would be truly enchanting.
Aamir Khan v/s Ajay Devgn [Thugs of Hindostan v/s Total Dhamaal] – November 7
Thugs of Hindostan has been announced for Diwali 2018 for the longest period of time. The Aamir Khan film is special since it brings him back with his Dhoom 3 team of YRF, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Krishna Acharya. However, with strong buzz about Ajay Devgn and Indra Kumar thinking of bringing Total Dhamaal on Diwali, it is indeed going to be a ‘dhamaal’ affair, what with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit joining too.
Akshay Kumar v/s Sidharth Malhotra [PadMan v/s Aiyaary] – January 26
It has been a game of merry-go-round for PadMan and Aiyaary of late. First Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary was set for Republic Day release. Then Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 was announced for the same date. This is when Neeraj Pandey decided to move ahead his Aiyaary. 2.0 was later pushed to April and then PadMan decided to arrive on January 26 instead. Last one heard, Aiyaary is back on the same date. Surprising, since now it is going to be a clash between Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra, the two actors who share good professional as well as personal camaraderie.
Rajinikanth v/s Varun Dhawan [2.0 v/s October] – April 13
It is going to be one of the unlikeliest of clashes, what with Varun Dhawan bringing his October on the same date as Rajinikanth‘s biggie 2.0. This isn’t all as the sci-fi flick directed by Shankar has Akshay Kumar as the antagonist, which means Varun Dhawan would be challenged by two powerhouse superstars. Meanwhile, Varun is sitting tight on a triple hat-trick of successes and would be looking at making it 10 in a row.
Tiger Shroff v/s Kangana Ranaut [Baaghi 2 v/s Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi] – April 27
Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi stays on to be his biggest grosser till date and now that he is arriving in the film’s sequel; all eyes are on how does the action entertainer turn out to be. While producer Sajid Nadiadwala is going all out to give an event release to Baaghi, Kangana Ranaut too is doing her best to ensure that her Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi turns out to be nothing less than an event in itself. The film is being directed by Krrish [Gabbar Is Back] who is a director of repute himself, which means it is going to be one ‘dhamakedaar’ clash once it takes place in theatres the coming April.
