Eijaz Khan opens up about sharing screen space with Divyanka Tripathi in Adrishyam The Invisible Heroes; says, “We are as different as chalk and cheese”

Eijaz Khan and Divyanka Tripathi play the role of undercover agents in the ongoing espionage thriller series on Sony LIV.

Eijaz Khan, who is best known as Wasim Khan from City Of Dreams, is currently seen in Adrishyam - The Invisible Heroes on Sony Liv as BIA agent Ravi Verma. Speaking about his show and preparation for the role he said, “Adrishyam is a unique name. ‘The invisible heroes’, i.e the tagline of the show, perfectly represents storyline of the protagonists. They are the heroes behind their country’s success, yet they always remain behind the curtains. They are a part of the crowd, they blend in with the crowd. They emerge from the crowd , they do their bit to save the day and then disappear in the crowd again.”

He added, “I am playing a secret agent and fortunately I had a long time to prepare for this. We were supposed to go on the floor in August last year, but it got pushed back again and again. I think the most important thing is that we have our mentor in Mr. Aloka, who himself has 25 years of experience in the intelligence field. He is an award winner who has also written multiple books. So, I have recordings of our conversations with him. He gave me a lot of insights from his life. Most of us recall intelligence agents or police officers from films because we've not seen them in real life. I had the good fortune of meeting Aloka ji. He doesn't stand out in the crowd, he is a very sweet looking gentleman, he has his own smile, he has his own aura of mystery around him, he chooses his words carefully and sometimes when he doesn't want to answer the question, he will just navigate his way out of it. So, I tried to keep this character as close to him. In fact, he was gracious enough to call me after he saw the first episode to tell me that I've done a decent job.”

The Sony LIV show features Eijaz Khan as the team leader Ravi Verma and Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya as agent Parvati Sehgal, as the duo are also working together for the first time. Sharing his experience with Divyanka he says, “Divyanka and I come from a very different universe. We are as different as chalk and cheese but where we find common ground is our willingness to learn. We make sure that we give our hundred percent and do justice to each and every scene. There was a period of adjustment but now we hit a sweet spot while working together and now we understand and compliment each other. It is very fulfilling working with Divyanka.”

Talking about the USP of the show, he mentioned, “There are moments of comedy in it as well, adding a slice-of-life feel. It's a wholesome show and the makers have made sure that it isn’t dark all the time — there is some entertainment also. That's what makes it very watchable.”
