I hope Brahmastra creates lot of dhoom” – Ayan Mukerji features

Ayan Mukerji left a huge mark with his first directorial venture itself – Wake Up Sid. The director then stunned everyone when he made Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The film emerged as a huge blockbuster and till date is Dharma Productions’ biggest hit. And now Ayan is all set to make a trilogy and the first part will be called Brahmastra. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, this sci-fi flick has already become one of the most awaited films.

At the opening ceremony of the ‘Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival’, Ayan Mukerji was asked only about Brahmastra. The director said, “Brahmastra is a very, very big project of my life. All my hopes are pinned on this film and I also hope it creates lot of dhoom!”

Getting together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan is no easy task and Ayan revealed that it’s a feat to have all of them in a film. He stated, “I am very excited about the cast. But I hope the film is even bigger than the cast. We have come together because of the story and the theme of the film after all.”

There were reports that Brahmastra is a superhero flick. On this, Ayan said, “Brahmastra is set in present-day, in India, as it exists today. But the reason the film is called Brahmastra is because the energies, the wisdom and the powers in the film come from ancient India.” On the superhero aspect, he also added, “There are some (superhero) costumes which are not the way you’d perhaps expect them to be.”

Getting a chance to work with Amitabh Bachchan is another important achievement of Ayan Mukerji. He opined, “It’s a great honour for me, as it would be for any filmmaker, to be working with Amitabh Bachchan, and that too in his 75th year. Ever since the film was conceptualized, I wanted to approach him. I am very happy that he is a part of Team Brahmastra.”
