As a young star who has been consistently delivering at the box office, Kartik Aaryan has done it again. While his last three releases, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Luka Chuppi and Pati Patni Aur Woh, were all superhits at the box office, they also started well in theaters. That said, a double digit start was eluding him and the films were primarily growing on the basis of word of mouth. As is the saying, an actor's stardom is also gauged by the kind of opening that he can garner at the box office on the first day and in that aspect, Kartik has a lot to cheer about.
His latest release Love Aaj Kal has taken a double digit opening and that too by a decent margin. With Rs. 12.40 crores coming in, the film is more than 30% improvement over the opening of his last release Pati Patni Aur Woh (Rs. 9.10 crores). Of course, Valentine's Day had a good contribution to make as well to the kind of numbers that has come in. Still, even without that a double digit start could well have been on the cards.
