Vijay requests Tamil Nadu CM to allow 100% seating capacity in theatres for Master? : Bollywood News

Vijay starrer Master will be one of the biggest Tamil release post the pandemic. The makers are planning to release the film in theatres on Pongal in January. On Sunday night, Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami seeking the government's help ahead of the release of Master.

Vijay requests Tamil Nadu CM to allow 100% seating capacity in theatres for Master?

Reportedly, during the meet, Vijay asked the CM to allow 100 % seating capacity at theatres. At the private meeting at the CM's residence, the actor along with a few other members of the film requested the CM to increase seating capacity from the existing 50%.

The Tamil Nadu government and other state governments recently reopened theatres at 50 % capacity owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Master was initially supposed to release in April this year, however, the pandemic induced lockdown delayed the release.

The 50% seating capacity rule will act detrimental to the film, which is riding on crores of rupees. It has been predicted that the film will not yield profits if released with 50 % seating capacity. Amidst this, the actor and the team requested the CM to increase seating capacity.

A big budget film like Master with Vijay in the lead is expected to bring back people to the theatres amid the pandemic. The film industry has suffered major losses in 2020 with the theatres being shut down for the longest time. Getting people back to the cinema hall has become vital for its survival now.

Meanwhile, in the film Master, Vijay will be playing the role of a college professor. Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as the antagonist. The film also features Andrea Jeremiah, Malavika Mohanan, Shantanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das and Gouri Kishan in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and jointly bankrolled by XB Film Creators in association with Seven Screen Studio.
