Valimai’s Tamil version to have a full-day release on Thursday, February 24; Hindi version to release post 6:00 pm

The much-awaited Ajith starrer Valimai is finally releasing this Thursday, on February 24, in the original Tamil language and also in the dubbed version in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada. The action scenes and Ajith’s presence have added to the buzz. The advance booking of the Tamil version commenced a few days back and the shows were sold out in no time. Hence, it is sure to embark on a flying start in the Tamil language.

The buzz is also there for the Hindi version of Valimai, despite it releasing with the Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi. Bollywood Hungama has now found out that, unlike the Tamil version, the actioner won’t have a full-day release on Thursday, February 24.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “It was a call taken by the makers as they felt that Thursday is a working day. Hence, audiences might not turn up in big numbers for the morning and noon shows of the Hindi version. Therefore, it made sense to give it a paid preview-type release and start the shows from 6:00 pm. As we all know, evening and night shows get maximum footfalls.”

The source continued, “Also, by the time it’s Thursday evening, the Tamil version would have been out and the makers are confident that it would have got a great response from the public. The reviews and audience reaction would be all over the internet. Hence, it’ll further add to the hype for the Hindi version.”

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama two weeks back, producer Boney Kapoor had confirmed that they are looking at releasing Valimai on at least 1000 screens. A clearer picture on the screen count will emerge by Wednesday evening, said the source.

Bollywood Hungama was the first one to reveal that Valimai’s Tamil version has been passed after 15 cuts or modifications. The Tamil version is nearly 2 hours and 58 minutes long. As for the Hindi version, it has a duration of 174 minutes, that is, 2 hours, 54 minutes. This is because a 4-minute-29-second long song ‘Dhana Dhani’ has been deleted. The same song, however, has been retained in the original version.

The makers also replaced the name of the darknet browser Tor with that of a fictional browser called Rag. Both these changes were made voluntarily by the makers on February 17 after getting the censor certificate for the Hindi version on February 11. The name of the darknet browser was also changed in the original Tamil version.
