Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay recently addressed the delay surrounding his upcoming and reportedly final film Jana Nayagan while speaking to a crowd at a public gathering organised by his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. During the speech, Vijay also launched sharp criticism at the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.

According to reports by ANI, Vijay spoke about the political climate in the state while responding to discussions around his film and his party’s growing presence ahead of the upcoming elections. “Listen to what I say, the next government will be a TVK government. Fishermen, remain hopeful; your protection will be fully ensured. During the release of the film Jana Nayagan, many people raised their voices in support. Even our Chief Minister voiced his support. I thank them for that. Chief Minister, you may try to silence me, but you cannot silence every Vijay in every household. They have already begun their campaign.”
The actor also criticised the narrative that the upcoming election would be a contest between regional and national forces, suggesting that his party would emerge victorious regardless of such framing. “Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, DMK members are projecting it as a contest between the Tamil Nadu team and the Delhi team. Even in cricket, the Delhi team cannot match the Tamil Nadu team. Tamil Nadu is TVK, and TVK is Tamil Nadu. All such divisions of Tamil Nadu team versus Delhi team will be set aside--the TVK team will win.”
Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan has been generating considerable buzz as it is expected to mark Vijay’s final film appearance before he transitions into full-time politics as the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. However, the film has faced several production delays in recent months.
Earlier, the makers, KVN Productions, shared a statement on social media addressing the postponement of the release. While the film was initially slated for release on January 9, the producers confirmed that the schedule had shifted and a new release date is yet to be finalised.
Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features Pooja Hegde as the female lead and Bobby Deol as the antagonist. The supporting cast includes Prakash Raj and Mamitha Baiju, among others.
As anticipation continues to build around Jana Nayagan, Vijay’s remarks at the rally underline how closely his cinematic farewell and political journey are now intertwined, with both drawing significant attention from fans and political observers alike.
