Known for his roles in television and films, many of his colleagues and co-stars took to social media to share their grief and post condolence messages.

Best known for his role as Amudhan in the Kamal Haasan, Jyothika starrer Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, Daniel Balaji is known for some of the most power packed roles in Tamil Cinema. The actor, at the age of 48, passed away in Chennai after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Many of his colleagues from the industry expressed their condolences and took to social media to share their grief over the actor’s demise.

Reports suggest that Balaji complained of chest pain on Friday, after which he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Kottivakam, Chennai. Although he was undergoing treatment, the doctors reportedly couldn’t save him. He was later taken to Purasaiwakam for his last rites where the family also held his funeral. Balaji, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, made his debut in 2002 with the Tamil film April Madhathil starring Srikanth and Sneha. On the other hand, he has also featured in a handful of Malayalam films too.

Expressing their grief over the actor’s demise, director Mohan Raja took to social media to share his condolence message saying, “Such a Sad news, He Was an inspiration for me to join film institute, A very good friend, Miss working with him, May his soul rest in peace”.


In yet another message shared by his Vettaiyadu Vilayaaadu co-star Kamal Haasan said, “The sudden death of brother Daniel Balaji is shocking. The agony of a young man’s deaths is painful. My condolences to Balaji's family, friends and fans. He will live even after his death by donating his eyes. My tribute to Balaji who has given light.”


Actress Keerthy Suresh added, “Shocking to hear that #DanielBalaji is no more! A great actor gone too soon! My heart goes out to his family and friends”. Actor Arya too wrote on his social media, “Gone too soon brother”.
