Suriya, Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, director Siva, music director Devi Sri Prasad, producer K E Gnanavel Raja and presenter Jayantilal Gada attended the press conference of the bug-budget Pan-India film Kanguva at a multiplex in Mumbai. The highlight of the press conference was Suriya and Bobby Deol’s bromance.
Bobby Deol lovingly addressed the fellow actor as “My Suriya”. He then said, “I agreed to do the film because it starred Suriya. When I met Suriya on the set, mujhe aisa nahin laga ki main usse pehli baar mil raha hoon. It seemed like I had known him for ages. He’s a very down-to-earth and humble man despite being such a huge star. He also loves his family. He and I used to mostly discuss our respective families. It was great bonding with him. Isko coffee ka shauk hai…”
Before Bobby Deol could complete the sentence, an overwhelmed Suriya hugged him. Suriya, at this point, was heard saying, “I don’t know how else to react!”
Bobby continued, “Yeh badi acchi coffee banwata tha. One day, I asked him, ‘From where do you get this coffee?’. He then gifted me some coffee beans.” He also added, “The weather was not conducive for a few days while we were shooting in Chennai. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience.”
Suriya too couldn’t stop praising Bobby Deol. He began by saying, “For the first time, I know what it feels to have a ‘brother from another mother’.”
Suriya further stated, “My dear brother has sacrificed his festivals with family and his holiday with family. He didn’t see money. Even before Animal (2023) was released, he had the conviction that this film would also work wonders. During the shoot, he was in the dust and rain and yet, he didn’t complain at all. All the light men and other unit people felt that we had a family member joining us. These are stars who seem like they are somewhere far in the galaxy but when they come down, they give us so much warmth and love. I wondered why we had not seen him for so many years. Because of him, the film has become even more larger. Be it the climax or wherever he comes, he has made the film larger with his large-heartedness (smiles).”
Suriya also exulted, “It is not easy to stand in front of Bobby sir and say those dialogues. I need to gather all my courage and conviction to stand in front of him and challenge him.”
Kanguva releases in cinemas on November 14.
