In the past, many celebrities have been trolled over their social media posts for varied reasons on various occasions. Similarly in a recent incident, a post shared by Soundarya Rajinikanth offended many of the citizens after which the filmmaker was forced to take it down from social media. The director-producer faced backlash on social media over a photo of her enjoying some pool time with her son and due to the same, the daughter of the megastar also posted an apology note for the same on Twitter.

Soundarya Rajinikanth shared a photo of her teaching the kids [including her sister’s kids] how to swim. On the other hand, Chennai is undergoing intense water crisis and has been undergoing water shortage due to lack of rains. Many of them felt that the filmmaker’s post came in at the wrong time and some of them took offense to the post shared on social media. After realizing that she is receiving backlash for her post, Soundarya too took to Twitter to apologize to all her fans and extended her support towards the Save Water campaign further explaining that the photos were a series of throwback photos that she shared with the intention of promoting the need for physical activities.

Soundarya said, “Removed the pictures shared in good spirit from my #TravelDiaries considering the sensitivity around the current #WaterScarcity we are facing. The throwback pics were to emphasise the importance for physical activities for children from a young age only.” On the other hand, in her earlier post that she deleted, she had said, “Teach them early ... and they learn to shine by themselves !!! Swimming is an essential activity !! #TeachThemYoung #KeepThemActive #WaterFun #EnsureSafetyAlways #NeverLeaveThemAlone #Motherhood #Bliss.”
