Shruti Haasan has opened up about her experience working alongside superstar Rajinikanth in the upcoming Tamil action thriller Coolie, and her words are a delightful mix of reverence and surprise. In a recent conversation with podcaster and content creator Ranveer Allahabadia, Shruti peeled back the larger-than-life persona of Rajinikanth and offered fans a peek into his off-screen charm and wisdom.

Speaking candidly, Shruti said, “My father (Kamal Haasan) and he are like two pillars and faces of Tamil cinema. I always knew him through the lens of the public, and people for some reason thought that I would have grown up around him. I knew him as the superstar, and I knew him from my dad’s lens, but it was very interesting to know him through the filming process.”

Her take on the legendary actor didn't stop at admiration. She also described Rajinikanth as someone who defies expectations with his unique mix of warmth and intelligence. “He is a unique mix of characteristics, and he is shrewd and sharp. But he is also very warm, and I even told him that he was very cool to talk to. He is very nice and easy to converse with; he doesn’t carry the gravitas with him. He always brings good energy with him on the set, and everyone is happy to work with him,” she added.

The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed Coolie is already one of the most anticipated releases of 2025. Set to hit theatres on August 14, the film promises a high-octane cinematic experience, releasing in standard, IMAX, D-Box, and 4DX formats. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, Coolie boasts an ensemble cast that includes not only Rajinikanth and Shruti Haasan, but also stars like Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat.
