On the occasion of filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj’s birthday on Saturday, the makers of Coolie unveiled a striking set of pictures from the sets of the much-anticipated film. Along with Rajnikanth, who plays the lead, the set of photos also included a picture of Shruti Haasan in her new look, that has grabbed attention of fans on social media.
For the unversed, Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and has been creating significant buzz since its announcement. In her newly revealed look, Shruti Haasan goes all de-glam, donning an extremely simple ethnic avatar with no makeup and extremely minimal accessories, appearing intense and composed as she looks deep in conversation with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. Coming to her character Preethi, if the serious expression and muted tones are anything to go by, then they suggest a deep, emotionally charged role that has left fans intrigued.
On Saturday, Sun Pictures dropped a series of photos from the sets of the film, as a birthday wish to filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, with Shruti's look garnering much intrigue among social media users.

Coming to Coolie, the film is expected to feature Lokesh Kanagaraj’s signature storytelling style and Rajnikanth’s dynamic presence along with an ensemble cast that includes the likes of Nagarjuna, Satyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR and Monisha Blessy. Touted to be a gripping action-drama, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, editing by Philomin Raj, and music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the film is expected to hit cinemas later this year.
Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan has been earning accolades for her performance in her Hollywood debut film The Eye that is being screened at several international film festivals. The movie recently premiered in India at the Wench Film Festival, receiving positive reviews. The actress has also been taking time out for her music career.
