Bollywood Hungama was one of the first ones to report that Salaar vs Dunki clash is confirmed for December 22, 2023. Starring Prabhas, Salaar was initially scheduled to release on September 28. But earlier this month, it was learnt that the grand action entertainer has been pushed ahead. A few days back, it came to light that its makers are looking at releasing Salaar on December 22, though Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki had booked the slot long back. A few hours ago, Hombale Films, the producers of Salaar, officially announced that their film will indeed release in the Christmas week. While Prabhas fans were overjoyed, they wondered if his next film, Kalki 2898 AD, would also make it on January 12, 2024, as planned.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that Kalki 2898 AD will be pushed. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The first look of Kalki 2898 AD was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 in July 2023. This asset didn’t carry the release date. Initially, the plan was to bring it out in January 2024 during Pongal. However, due to extensive VFX, the film will take a while before it gets ready. And now with Salaar confirmed for December 22, there’s no way two big films of a star will be released within a month.”

The source continued, “Kalki 2898 AD will now release later in 2024. The date is expected to be announced soon.” Some reports state that the makers are toying with the date of May 9, 2024, but there has been no confirmation about it from our source.

Kalki 2898 AD was announced as Project K in February 2020. Besides Prabhas, it also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the big-scale entertainer is set in the future and is produced by C Aswani Dutt's Vyjayanthi Movies.
