Sandeep Reddy Vanga shares update on Spirit starring Prabhas: “We have completed 70% of the background score”

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, best known for Kabir Singh and Animal, shared a new update on his upcoming film Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead role. The project, which is still in early development, is expected to follow the director’s signature style seen in Animal.

During a recent appearance on a talk show, Vanga revealed that about 70% of the film’s background music had already been completed. He explained that this approach, which he also used while making Animal, helped streamline the filming process by setting the tone for each scene in advance. “It’s easier to shoot when the background score is already in place. You know when to call 'action' or 'cut', and it saves time. With Animal, we had 80% of the BGM ready before we started shooting. For Spirit, we’ve done 70% already,” Vanga shared.

In Spirit, Prabhas reportedly plays a serious and intense police officer who takes on an international crime syndicate. The film is expected to feature strong action elements and emotional depth. Triptii Dimri, who rose to fame with roles in Animal and Qala, joined the cast as the female lead after Deepika Padukone opted out of the project. Vanga confirmed that filming will begin in September 2025, with Prabhas scheduled to join the shoot in November. The team has planned an extended shooting schedule in Thailand, which will serve as the primary location.

According to reports, Spirit will be a Pan-Indian project, originally filmed in Telugu and later dubbed into Hindi and other Indian languages to reach a wider audience. The film has been generating buzz not only for the Prabhas–Vanga collaboration but also for its genre shift, with rumours suggesting the story may explore supernatural elements—a first for Prabhas in this kind of role.

While further plot details remain under wraps, the director’s early music preparation and casting decisions suggest that Spirit is set to become one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026.
