The piracy controversy surrounding Jana Nayagan, widely reported to be the final film of Tamil superstar, fondly known as Thalapathy Vijay, before his full-time political transition, continues to draw strong reactions from the film industry. Joining the growing list of voices condemning the leak is actor R Madhavan, who recently expressed his concern over the situation on social media.

Reposting a message originally shared by Suriya Sivakumar, Madhavan extended his support to the film’s team and criticised the circulation of pirated content. He wrote, “I totally agree and this is extremely heartbreaking and troubling. How are people getting away with this . Please respect the hard work of all the people involved in this Film.. Please do avoid watch it it on the pirated platforms.. ..”

Suriya, who had earlier spoken out following the leak, had also urged audiences to refrain from engaging with pirated material. In his post, he stated, “Heartbreaking and unfair — an entire team’s passion reduced to this. I request you all with honesty, please don’t watch, share, or discuss the film here. Respect their work. I stand with my friends and condemn the act, it’s unforgivable!”
The issue first came to light last week when Jana Nayagan became a victim of piracy, with portions—and in some cases, the entire film—reportedly being circulated online across multiple platforms. The situation escalated further given that the film was already facing delays due to unresolved issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), placing the project in a state of uncertainty.
In response to the leak, KVN Productions issued a statement warning of strict legal action against those responsible. Authorities have since made progress in the investigation, with six individuals arrested in connection with the piracy case. Additionally, over 300 infringing links hosting the film’s content have been taken down from various websites and platforms.
Jana Nayagan is also reported to be a remake of the 2023 Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari and features a cast that includes Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in key roles. The film was initially slated for a January release but has since been postponed indefinitely due to certification hurdles.
As the controversy continues, voices from across the industry, including R Madhavan, are urging audiences to support filmmakers by rejecting pirated content and respecting the effort behind such large-scale productions.
