Prithviraj Sukumaran has taken a break from his films to don the hat of a director. The actor-filmmaker decided to kick off the shoot of L2: Empuraan, which is a sequel to the 2019 film Lucifer, starring Mohanlal. The film is currently in the shooting stage and recently Prithviraj decided to share a glimpse of their shoot schedule, all the way from Gujarat, as an update to fans who are eagerly anticipating its release.

Prithviraj Sukumaran reveals that they are currently completing a night shoot

Prithviraj Sukumaran took to Instagram to share a photo of him directing a shot but did not divulge many details of the same. While fans will yet again be disappointed since the photo doesn’t feature Mohanlal, they would be excited to know that the shooting schedule is on in full swing. Prithviraj captioned the photo only with hashtags which included L2, Empuraan, Night Shoot, and Gujarat. He also tagged the cinematographer of the film Sujith Vasudev who was also captured in action in the photograph. Many fans reacted to the picture and dropped heart emojis by expressing their excitement about watching Lalettan returning to the screen as Stephen Nedumpally.

About Lucifer and L2: Empuraan

Lucifer is a 2019 political action thriller that featured Mohanlal as Stephen Nedumpally who is later revealed to be one of the most feared gangsters Khureshi Ab’raam. The film also featured Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas in key roles and we hear that the duo will also be a part of the sequel as well.

While it is a known fact that L2: Empuraan will be shot across multiple locations including different countries, we hear that the film will provide audiences into a deeper insight into the life of Khureshi Ab’raam. As for the release date, Mohanlal had earlier confirmed that the makers are looking at releasing the film by the end of the 2024 or in the first quarter of 2025.
