Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming Malayalam murder thriller Bhramam is a "intelligent" version of the Bollywood classic Andhadhun, according to the actor. The film is set for a digital release on Amazon Prime Video on October 7 under the direction of cinematographer-turned-director Ravi K Chandran.

The dualities of a musician named Ray, played by Prithviraj, who appears to be blind, are chronicled in Bhramam. In the 2018 film, Ayushmann Khurrana portrayed the character.

The actor expressed his confidence that those who have not watched Andhadhun will love his next crime thriller, but he is curious to see how the audience of Sriram Raghavan's film reacts to the Malayalam remake.

While filming for his directorial debut Lucifer, the 38-year-old actor says he first heard about Andhadhun, which also starred Tabu and Radhika Apte. Vivek Oberoi, who acted in the 2019 Malayalam action flick Lucifer, advised Prithviraj not only to see the film but also to adapt it. When the Ayyappanum Koshiyum star viewed the film later, he was blown away by Raghavan and his team's ability to transform a "gruesome" drama into a highly enjoyable film.

Prithviraj revealed that he had attempted to contact the makers of Andhadhun at the time, but things did not work out. He stated that he attempted to contact the filmmakers in order to obtain the rights, but that he was unsuccessful. He is grateful that AP International and Viacom18 contacted him after the incident occurred.

Prithviraj also mentioned that he had previously attempted to contact Raghavan in order to get the rights to his critically praised 2007 film Johnny Gaddar. Neil Nitin Mukesh, Dharmendra, Zakir Hussain, Rimi Sen, and Vinay Pathak were among the cast members. However, that did not occur. However, it would make a fantastic Malayalam film, he continued.

Prithviraj claimed he regarded Bhramam like an original film from the minute he joined the cast. Prithviraj even stopped watching songs from Andhadhun so he wouldn't be influenced by Ayushmann Khurrana's performance, which had earned him his first National Award.

Bhramam also stars Unni Mukundan, Raashi Khanna, Sudheer Karamana and Mamta Mohandas in key roles.
