The trailer of Zee Studios and Prerna Arora’s upcoming film Jatadhara has sparked widespread discussion across the country for its intense visuals and emotionally charged storytelling. Reflecting on the overwhelming response, producer Prerna Arora shared, “The kind of emotional and electric reaction the trailer has received is overwhelming. As a producer, belief is always the foundation. When I made films like Rustom, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, and Padman, those subjects were new to mainstream cinema. Yet they became global conversations. With Jatadhara, we had the same conviction — and seeing people connect so deeply is truly reassuring.”

‘Jatadhara’ Goes Beyond Conventional Supernatural Cinema
While supernatural stories are enjoying a resurgence with films like Stree 2, Munjya, and Kantara, Prerna believes Jatadhara stands apart for its emotional honesty and spiritual depth. She explained, “This isn’t a comedy or a folk-fantasy. Jatadhara is raw, spiritually intense, and emotionally driven. It goes beyond black magic and fear. At its core, the film is about faith, innocence, and how ordinary people get pulled into extraordinary forces. The horror here isn’t just visual — it’s psychological, moral, and deeply human. We’re not trying to entertain darkness; we’re confronting the consequences of it.”

Addressing one of the film’s central themes — black magic — Prerna emphasized that Jatadhara explores the subject with realism rather than sensationalism. “It’s real — not fictional. Even in today’s world of social media and podcasts, stories of black magic still surface from major cities and influential places. Jatadhara doesn’t exaggerate the theme; it treats it with honesty. Black magic isn’t a subplot here; it’s a driving narrative force that shapes the destiny of every character,” she explained.

Uncompromised Vision Despite Challenges
Given the film’s unflinching tone and spiritual themes, Jatadhara faced its share of challenges during certification. However, Prerna shared that the team remained firm in their vision. “With a subject like this, we were prepared for the battle. Having made Pari before, I was clear that we would not dilute or compromise the honesty of the story. We received an A certificate with negligible cuts, which is exactly what we wanted. Jatadhara is meant to be experienced in its pure form. We’re grateful to the censor board for understanding the soul of the film and passing it with belief.”
