The makers of the magnum opus RRR have landed in a legal soup after a student from Andhra Pradesh filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the film stating that it distorts historical facts.
PIL filed against SS Rajamouli’s RRR in Telangana High Court for allegedly distorting historical factsAlluri Sowmya, a student from Andhra Pradesh while filing the PIL has demanded a stay order on the film and that a censor certificate not be issued to them. She filed the PIL against the producers in the Telangana High Court. In the PIL, she claimed that the film is destroying Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem's history.
Meanwhile, director SS Rajamouli had never claimed that the film was based on true events. He had always maintained that the film was a fictional work based on true characters. The filmmaker has based the story on the time period where no one knew what happened in the lives of those two freedom fighters.
Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR as the freedom fighters, the film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in special appearances. The film which was supposed to be released in theatres on January 7 was postponed owing to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
