Pen Studios and Pen Marudhar to distribute Suriya starrer Retro in North India : Bollywood News

Pen Studios has officially joined hands with the team behind Retro, the upcoming action-packed entertainer starring National Award-winning actor Suriya. The studio, under the leadership of Dr Jayantilal Gada, will handle the distribution of the film’s Hindi version across North India through its distribution arm, Pen Marudhar.

Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Creations, Retro blends gritty action with emotional depth and is set against a rich visual backdrop, including the holy city of Varanasi. The film follows the story of a gangster who, after promising his wife a peaceful life, struggles to break away from his violent past. As he tries to reform, he finds himself caught between love, redemption, and the forces pulling him back into a life of crime. The narrative explores themes of love, laughter, and war, while capturing the emotional turmoil of a man seeking a new beginning.

Pen Studios and Pen Marudhar are known for backing and distributing several blockbusters across India, including RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Ponniyin Selvan I & II, Dream Girl 2, Stree 2, Jawan, and the recent hit Chhaava. Their involvement with Retro ensures the film gets a strong release across the Hindi-speaking belt.

The film features Pooja Hegde in her first collaboration with Suriya, alongside a strong supporting cast including Jayaram, Joju George, and Shriya Saran. With music by Santhosh Narayanan and genre-bending storytelling by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro is set for a global theatrical release on May 1, 2025.
