Kannada actor Sanchari Vijay who is also a recipient of the National Award passed away on Monday, June 14. He met with an accident on June 12 and was hospitalised on the same day. He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru. His family had decided to donate his organs because of the irreversible brain damage.

On Monday evening, the hospital issued a statement declaring the actor brain dead. “Mr Vijay's apnea tests were performed at 12:25 pm and 7:50 pm today and are found to be positive. This means that there is irreversible complete damage to the brain and he is brain dead... next step is retrieval of organs and transplant procedures,” read the statement.

Actor Kichcha Suddepa announced the news of the death of Sanchari Vijay on Twitter. “Very, very disheartening to accept that Sanchari Vijay breathed his last. Met him couple of times just before this lockdown... All excited about his next film that's due for release. Very sad. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP,” he wrote.


Actor Prakash Raj took to Twitter and wrote in Telugu, “Gone too soon dearUnbelievableHow to endure this shockpain (sic).”


Rakshit Shetty, too, offered condolence and wrote, “Your sudden demise has left a huge void, this is disheartening! Rest in peace Vijay. My deepest condolences to the family (sic).”


Malayalam film superstar Mammootty also expressed grief. He took to Facebook and wrote, "RIP Sanchari Vijay. Deepest Condolences to his family and friends"


Sanchari stepped into the film industry with the film Rangappa Hogbitna in 2011. He has worked in Kannada filma like Dasavala, Harivu, Oggarane, Killing Veerappan, Varthamana and Sipaayi. He won the National Award for the film Naanu Avanalla Avalu.
