Actor Naga Chaitanya has been honoured with the Best Actor award at the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards for his performance in the film Thandel. The recognition celebrates his powerful and emotionally driven portrayal in the film, which garnered appreciation from both audiences and critics.
With Thandel, Naga Chaitanya delivered one of the most intense performances of his career. The actor went to great lengths to prepare for the role, spending considerable time with fishermen communities in Andhra Pradesh to closely observe their lifestyle, body language, and everyday routines. This immersive preparation allowed him to understand the nuances of their world and bring a strong sense of authenticity to the character.
Apart from studying the community’s way of life, Chaitanya also underwent a noticeable physical transformation to match the rugged nature of the role. His commitment to the character and the emotional depth he brought to the story were widely praised following the film’s release.

Thandel is a high-octane action drama inspired by real-life events from 2018 involving fishermen from Srikakulam who inadvertently drifted into Pakistani waters. The story follows a courageous fisherman’s struggle for survival and his determined journey to return home to his loved ones. Blending themes of patriotism with an emotional love story, the film resonated strongly with viewers.
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Bunny Vas under the banner of GA2 Pictures, the film also stars Sai Pallavi as the female lead. The film’s technical team includes music composer Devi Sri Prasad and cinematographer Shamdat, who together help shape the film’s sweeping visual and emotional scale.
With this recognition at the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards, Naga Chaitanya’s performance in Thandel further strengthens his standing as one of the most versatile actors of his generation.
