Mohanlal pitches himself for Kantara franchise; says, “Please ask them to cast me” : Bollywood News

Hombale Films has established itself as one of the leading production houses in Indian cinema, delivering successful franchises such as Kantara, Salaar, and KGF. Their large-scale productions and ambitious storytelling have made them a sought-after banner for actors across the industry. Recently, veteran actor Mohanlal expressed his desire to collaborate with the production house, particularly in their upcoming film, Kantara: Chapter 1.

In an interview with OTTPlay, when asked about his involvement in Kantara: Chapter 1, Mohanlal clarified that he is not part of the film at this stage. However, he made a direct appeal to the filmmakers, stating, "Please ask them to put me in Kantara 2. Give me a role. I am not a bad actor, I think." Mohanlal’s admiration for Hombale Films has definitely added to the much love the production house has been receiving of late. Meanwhile, fans are now eager to see if the banner will take this suggestion and will cast the legendary actor in one of their future projects.

Meanwhile, Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to be a prequel to the 2022 mythological drama Kantara and is set during the reign of the Kadambas of Banavasi. Rishab Shetty will reportedly portray a Naga Sadhu with superhuman powers. The film is anticipated to raise the bar for Indian cinema with its storytelling and scale. Kantara: Chapter 1 is slated for release on October 2, 2025 in multiple languages.

Apart from this, Hombale Films also has a strong lineup of projects, including Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam. Coming to Mohanlal, the actor is currently basking in the love coming his way for the much-anticipated L2: Empuraan starring an ensemble cast of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajit Sukumaran, among others which hit the theatres on March 27.
