The Hindi IMAX trailer of the Malayalam film L2 Empuraan was held at a multiplex in Mumbai. It was attended by the film’s actor and director Prithviraj Sukumaran and superstar Mohanlal. Prithviraj spoke about how shooting this big budget film helped him recover from his injury faster.
Prithviraj Sukumaran said, “Just before beginning to shoot this film, I was wrapping up another film as an actor (Vilayath Buddha). During its shoot, I got seriously injured while shooting an action sequence. As a result, I had to go through a complex knee surgery. Anyone who has done an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) surgery will know that the rehabilitation process is quite complex. It’s very challenging on your mind, especially for someone like me who is physically very active, busy and out there.”
He continued, “Hence, I was at my rock bottom. The reason I am truly at my 100% is because I forced myself to start shooting this film.”
Prithviraj Sukumaran also revealed, “And guess what? The first schedule we shot was at minus 12 degree Celsius at 12,300 feet in Ladakh. There was very less oxygen. It was biting cold. It was one of the most challenging sequences to pull off for the entire film.”
He added, “When I started shooting for the film and got involved with it, it pulled me through and kept me motivated.”
L2 Empuraan releases in cinemas on March 27.
