Kanguva press conference at Miraj IMAX Wadala: Suriya answers if a crossover with Thangalaan is possible; raises excitement for sequel: “Part 1 climax will leave you with a lot of questions and SURPRISES”

en Bollywood News Kanguva press conference at Miraj IMAX Wadala: Suriya answers if a crossover with Thangalaan is possible; raises excitement for sequel: “Part 1 climax will leave you with a lot of questions and SURPRISES”

The press conference of Kanguva was held in Mumbai in Miraj IMAX Wadala. The event started more than two hours late and moreover, Bobby Deol and music director Devi Sri Prasad, who were supposed to attend, couldn’t make it, irking the mediapersons. However, the exclusive glimpse of the assets in 3D along with the answers given by the attendees – Suriya, director Siva, producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and Jayantilal Gada of PEN India Ltd – made up for the shortcomings.

Studio Green’s last film was Thangalaan (2024) which, like Kanguva, was also about a tribe and a fearless leader. Suriya was asked if a crossover between Thangalaan and Kanguva is possible since both films are produced by K E Gnanavel Raja.

Suriya was quite surprised at this unexpected question. He asked the journalist, “Do you mean a crossover between Thangalaan and Kanguva?” When the journalist replied in the affirmative, Suriya explained why it’s not possible saying, “I think these are two different time eras. I don’t think they (Thangalaan and Kanguva) belong to the same timeline. Our film is set in the pre-civilization era. Thangalaan, meanwhile, is set in the British times. Our film is set 1000 years back.”

Suriya continued, “So, I don’t know. It’s a completely different idea and a completely different thought.”

However, he assured the journalists and said, “But we have Kanguva 2. That’s where our priorities lie. The climax of Kanguva Part 1 will leave you with a lot of questions and surprises. Hence, Kanguva 2 is what we are looking forward to.”

Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, starred Vikram along with Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan. It is the story of a village chief who goes on a gold-searching expedition despite the dangers and risks associated with the exercise.

Kanguva, on the other hand, also stars Disha Patani, Yogi Babu and others. It is reportedly made at a cost of more than Rs. 300 crores. Kanguva releases in cinemas on November 14.
