After much anticipation, the makers dropped the first look of Fauzi thus giving fans a much-required glimpse into its world— a large-scale period drama directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. The announcement, made on the actor’s birthday, introduced fans to his character as a soldier of the Azad Hind Fauj and promised a powerful narrative set against the backdrop of India’s pre-Independence struggle.

Now, director Hanu Raghavapudi, known for helming Sita Ramam, has shared insights into the creative approach and thematic depth of the film. Speaking about the artistic choices that shape the story, he said, “We intentionally used Sanskrit slokas because they add gravity and meaning to our warrior tale. However, this is not a mythological film. We've only drawn philosophical inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita. Fauzi is a powerful patriotic drama that explores human emotions and socio-political tensions during the British era, many of which still resonate globally today.”
The Sanskrit shloka featured in the film reads: “पद्मव्यूह विजयी पार्थः, पाण्डवपक्षे संस्थित कर्णः। गुरुविरहितः एकलव्यः, जन्मनैव च योद्धा एषः॥”( The one who conquers the Padmavyuha like Arjuna, stands firm like Karna, learns without a guru like Eklavya — he is a warrior by birth). The verse encapsulates the spirit of the film’s protagonist — a soldier driven by courage, conviction, and inner strength.
The first-look poster was released by Mythri Movie Makers earlier this week, and it featured Prabhas in a striking avatar, with the caption, “#PrabhasHanu is #FAUZI… The bravest tale of a soldier from the hidden chapters of our history… Happy Birthday, Rebel Star @actorprabhas.” The reveal also confirmed the ensemble cast, which includes veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty, Jaya Prada, and Anupam Kher, along with Imanvi Ismail as the female lead.

Raghavapudi, who is known for his ability to merge emotion with visual grandeur, is reportedly crafting Fauzi as a sweeping cinematic experience that balances patriotic fervor with philosophical reflection. Prabhas, who continues to explore varied genres post-Baahubali, is expected to play a layered character torn between duty, ideology, and personal emotion.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Fauzi is being described as one of their most ambitious ventures yet. The film is slated for a multilingual theatrical release next year.
