Two years after they shared their post on separation, reports suggest that actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth have moved the court for a legal separation and filed for divorce. Recent reports have now suggested that even though they have decided to divorce each other, the process is expected to be amicable and that they would also be co-parenting their sons, Yathra and Linga.

A source told Hindustan Times, “They have officially filed for a divorce in Chennai. They have not been staying together since separation, and were focusing on healing from the split. Now, they have felt the need to move on in life, which is why they have filed for a divorce.” The source also asserted that the decision is mutual and hence, there would be no accusations or blame games. “There is not going to be a fight in court for divorce, or any mud-slinging. They both have made peace with the turn of events in their life, and accepted that they can’t be together. They have respect for each other. It’s going to be an amicable process,” the source assured.

In the past two years, even though the couple has been living separately, their sons Yathra and Linga are seen spending time with both their parents. “They are co-parenting their sons on a cordial level. However, the primary custody is expected to go to Aishwaryaa, and Dhanush is not contesting it. That being said, he is always there for his kids. At the moment, the estranged couple is involved in active discussions with their kids to help them sail the divorce process smoothly,” added the source.

For the unversed, Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth tied the knot in 2004, and became parents to Yatra and Linga in 2006 and 2010 respectively. After 18 years of their marriage, the couple announced their separation in January 2022.
