Hombale Films, the production house which began in Karnataka in 2012, has now become renowned worldwide thanks to the KGF series. The first part, KGF - Chapter 1 (2018), was a surprise sleeper hit in the Hindi version. KGF - Chapter 2 (2022), meanwhile, emerged as a huge grosser in all languages, including Hindi. The makers ended the action entertainer with the hint that the third part is in the offing, and it added to the frenzy.
Bollywood Hungama has now learned that the film is all set to go on floors next year. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The pre-production is going on in full swing. Director Prashanth Neel is right now neck-deep in completing Salaar, starring Prabhas. Once he’s done with its release, he’ll fully concentrate on KGF - Chapter 3. The plan is to take the film on floors in 2024.”
The source further said, “As for the release, it’ll be out in cinemas in 2025. The makers have not locked any date as yet though. Needless to say, it’ll be one of the most awaited films for moviegoers across the country. The producers, Prashanth Neel and Yash are aware of the responsibility. They are determined to give viewers a massy and exciting experience and go one step ahead of the sequel in terms of scale, grandeur and content.”
There are reports that Salaar, which is confirmed for a release on December 22 this year, belongs to the same cinematic universe as KGF. However, there’s no confirmation on it yet and even the makers are tight-lipped about it. Besides Prabhas, Salaar also stars Shruti Haasan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jagapathi Babu.
Meanwhile, Vijay Kiragandur, who owns Hombale Films, is gearing up for the second instalment of another exciting film series, Kantara. The first part, which was released exactly a year ago, emerged as one of the blockbusters of 2022. Like the first part, the sequel will also be directed by Rishab Shetty, and he’ll also star in the lead. Kantara 2 is reportedly expected to go on floors in 2023-end.
