Retelling an epic saga of Chandramukhi yet again, the sequel to the Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Jyothika, and Prabhu starrer 2005 horror comedy is all set to return ahead of the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi. While the original was remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, the new version is expected to feature a different script, storyline and also very different characters. Starring Raghava Lawrence, Kangana Ranaut, Mahima Nambiar, the trailer of the film was unveiled on September 4 and the Pan India entertainer is riding high on expectations owing to the popularity of the franchise.

Speaking of the trailer, it kicks off with an introduction into the world of a brave man Raghava who fights off goons effortlessly. Later, audiences are introduced to a palatial bungalow with spooky vibes that leaves everyone going to reside there a little restless. Many are warned to stay away from this ‘south block’ bunglow because it is the ‘house of Chandramukhi’. After the trailer gives a sneak peek into unexplainable incidents which keep occurring to residents staying there, it shifts to a different era, giving audiences a glimpse into the world of Chandramukhi and her eleven centuries old revenge saga. Along with her, the trailer also introduces viewers to King Vettaiayan Raja who resembles the face of Raghava.

Chandramukhi 2, directed by P Vasu, is expected to be a Pan India entertainer and is the second instalment of the horror comedy franchise. Speaking about the taking the franchise forward and talking about essaying a role, originally played by Jyothika in the 2005 horror comedy, Kangana had said, “I am watching Jyothika ji’s iconic performance in Chandramukhi almost every day because we are shooting the climax it’s nerve wracking, how astonishing she is in the first part!! it is practically impossible to match up to her brilliance.”

The film, which also stars Radhika Sarathkumar, Vadivelu, Lakshmi Menon, Saranya Ponnvanan, Satyaraj, among others, is slated for release on September 15, in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu.
