Aishwarya Rajinikanth reveals losing 21 days of shoot of Lal Salaam; says, “We missed the footage of all the twenty cameras” : Bollywood News

Aishwarya Rajinikanth made her comeback as a filmmaker with Lal Salaam, an action drama set against the backdrop of cricket. The film featured Aishwarya’s father and megastar Rajinikanth in an extended cameo along with Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. Recently, the filmmaker, who decided to return to direction after seven years, recalled a major mishap they suffered where they ended up losing a major chunk of footage and how they couldn’t reshoot the portion.

In an interview with Cinemavikattan, Aishwarya Rajinikanth asserted that it caused due to certain ‘irresponsibility’ and elaborated on the incident as she said, “It is true that we lost a lot of footage. We were shocked that something like this could even happen. It was about 21 days of footage. I should say it happened because of irresponsibility, which was unfortunate. We had shot a cricket match, and it was a ten-camera set-up. We wanted to shoot it like it was a real cricket match. We missed the footage of all the twenty cameras. We didn’t know what to do."

She also went on to explain the challenges of reshooting the portion and added, “The problem was everyone including Vishnu, Senthil, and Appa also changed their get-up. So, we couldn’t reshoot it. In the end, we re-edited the film with whatever was left. It was challenging. Though Vishnu and Appa were cooperative and ready to do it again, we couldn’t shoot all of it again. It was a huge compromise.”

Along with Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, Lal Salaam also featured an ensemble cast including Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, K. S. Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah, whereas Rajinikanth essayed the role of Vikranth’s character Shamsuddin’s father Mohideen Bhai. Produced under the banner Lyca Productions, the film released on February 9.
