The three big South releases this week—the Hindi releases are on hold for Dhurandhar—are yet to open their advance-booking counters, although the release is three days away.

Prabhas’ Telugu-Hindi film The RajaSaab, Vijay’s Tamil movie Jana Nayagan (Jan Neta in Hindi) and Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi are yet to receive censor clearance.
A bit of probing reveals a dismaying and unsettling cause for the delay. Sources reveal Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi are being held back by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for their overt political content. The reason for the delay in the censor certificate for The Raja Saab is not clear.
However, the Hindi version seems to be lacking in viewer-enthusiasm.
Explained trade guru Taran Adarsh, “The RajaSaab (Hindi version) may be witnessing muted ground-level buzz, but there is no question of a postponement. The film is firmly on course for its scheduled release on 9 January 2026. The subdued hype can largely be attributed to limited promotional activity in the Hindi markets so far. As a result, awareness beyond the core fan base is yet to reach its full potential. That said, one hopes the promotional push gathers momentum during the release week. A robust marketing blitz in the release week could help the film build traction and enhance its prospects at the box office.”
