The Raja Saab: Producer of Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt starrer breaks silence on non-theatrical rights rumours; says, “Let the screens speak”

Vishwa Prasad addressed business speculation and has insisted that the horror-fantasy has secured the best possible deal in a correcting market.

Speculation around the pre-release business of Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab has been doing the rounds, particularly concerning its non-theatrical rights. At a time when digital, satellite, and music rights play a decisive role in defining a film’s overall valuation, reports suggesting that the film’s non-theatrical deals had not met expectations sparked chatter across trade circles and social media.

Putting these rumours to rest, producer Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation, firmly asserting that The Raja Saab has secured the highest non-theatrical value possible under the current market conditions. While refraining from disclosing exact figures due to financial sensitivities, Prasad emphasised that the film’s true verdict will come from its theatrical performance.

“There’s a lot of noise around the business of our biggest film,” Prasad wrote, adding that the team does not believe in discussing internal spends or numbers publicly. According to him, the focus remains firmly on the big-screen experience, with official worldwide box-office figures to be shared post release.

He further contextualised the discussion by pointing out that the non-theatrical market is currently undergoing a natural correction. “Cinema moves in phases,” Prasad noted, explaining that while non-theatrical revenues are stabilising, theatres continue to deliver the real and lasting verdict. Even within this phase, he stressed, The Raja Saab has achieved the best possible outcome, making comparisons with other projects unnecessary.

Describing the film as a “massive horror-fantasy crafted to roar in theatres,” the producer urged audiences and industry watchers alike to wait for the film’s release. “Let the screens speak,” he concluded, underlining his confidence in the theatrical impact of the project.

Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marks a notable shift for Prabhas, who will be seen in a double role in a romantic horror comedy, a genre largely outside his usual action-heavy comfort zone. The story revolves around a young man who eyes his ancestral property as a solution to a pressing financial crisis, setting the stage for a blend of romance, horror, and humour.

The horror fantasy drama also stars Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan—making her Telugu debut—and Riddhi Kumar in key roles. Produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, The Raja Saab is currently slated for a January 9 theatrical release, ahead of Sankranti. The film has seen multiple postponements in the past due to extensive post-production work, having earlier been planned for April 2025 and later December 2025.

With the producer’s clarification now on record, all eyes are firmly on The Raja Saab’s theatrical run to deliver the final word.
