Adivi Sesh's Goodachari, the 2018 Telugu spy thriller, introduced audiences to the world of Agent Gopi. With a glimpse into the film's international scale and sophistication through recently released stills, the makers have promised to elevate the franchise to new heights. The sequel, which also stars Emraan Hashmi, is currently in production, with 40% of the shoot already completed. The team is gearing up for a month-long shooting schedule in Europe, specifically Poland and Hungary, in September 2024 where an elaborate action sequence is planned.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Sesh, who reprises his role as Agent Gopi, said that he is excited about the project and the challenges it presents. “The stakes are 1,000 percent higher,” he shared, acknowledging the pressure to deliver after the success of Major. The actor revealed the script underwent multiple revisions to ensure it stands out from its predecessor while maintaining a connection with the original. “We wrote about 20-30 versions,” he added.

Unlike its predecessor, which was primarily filmed in India, the sequel will be shot across multiple countries, including Poland, France, Hungary, and Abu Dhabi. With Emraan Hashmi joining Sesh for the European leg of the shoot, the film promises a dynamic and international cast.

Slated for release in the second half of 2025, G2 will be available across all major Indian languages. The film is directed by Vinay Sirigineedi, who has also written the film with Sesh. Set six years after the events of the first film Goodachari, G2 introduces a new chapter in the story, with agent Gopi on an international mission that unravels many truths from his past. G2 explores patriotism and sacrifice in a thrilling spectacle of twists and turns, with action set pieces in five countries across the world.
