With over 60 films in his repertoire, and numerous accolades and awards, South superstar Ajith has made a special place for himself. Today, the actor enjoys a massive fan following, offline as well as online. As his much-anticipated film Thunivu has witnessed an epic release today, fans across the South Indian states went into a frenzy. However, amid all the excitement for his film, a mishap happened in Chennai. A 19-year-old fan died while dancing on a lorry on the road in Koyambedu.

Reportedly, a huge crowd had gathered outside the Rohini Theatre Complex in Koyambedu since midnight on Wednesday. Not only Ajith’s fans, but hundreds of Thalapathy Vijay fans were also at the same venue. For the unversed, along with Thunivu, the Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Varisu.

Going by the media reports, at 1 a.m., Bharath Kumar, 19, of Chintadripet who is a fan of actor Ajith climbed on the top of a moving tanker lorry and danced in celebration. He fell from the lorry and broke his spinal cord. Soon after he fell, he was rushed to Government Kilpauk Hospital where he died in the early hours of Thursday without responding to treatment.

Not only this, but another incident created havoc at the venue when Ajith fans started tearing banners of Vijay's Varisu placed in the theatres. Retaliating to it, Vijay fans tore most banners of Ajith's Thunivu kept at the theatre. Eventually, the police had to lathi-charge the Vijay and Ajith fans to control the situation.

Speaking of Thunivu, helmed by H Vinoth, the film also stars Manju Warrier, Veera, Ajay, John Kokken, Prem, Bucks, Samuthirakani and Mahanadhi Shankar, among others. It is produced under the banner of Boney Kapoor.
