It's good no? The smaller films are working now and it's good for Pri and Me
Big and small films both work if they are good. Something has to click with the audience. Pri and Me is a romantic comedy. We play two regular people. You relate to our characters, they are like you or your friends or someone you know. It's not about whether this film is big or small, it is honest to its story and that's its USP.
You're only one film old actress who's done all big brand endorsements on the small screen. How does it feel to be queen of the small?
I know!! I'm so fortunate! I've learnt so much doing these endorsements. 1920 being a hit really helped. I was immediately accepted by the audience and I guess these big brands signed me on because I have a good connect with the junta. It's fun to do a commercial. You have to convey a whole concept in 60 seconds. I'm proud to be associated with brands like Nokia, Olay and Joyalukkas and the many more which I can't discuss right now as the adverts are still to go on air.
What is it with you and your new comer co-stars?
I want to work with everybody, yes my greed strikes again! In Pri and Me, I'm paired opposite Dev Goel. He's very intelligent and talented. Dev has written the film as well. I was in splits when I read the script! It's not your regular rom-com.
So, I want to know how did a film like this fall in your lap?
I read the script of the film and auditioned for the part. I believe I can be whoever you want me to be, and turns out here I was the perfect Pri! (Yes I rhyme too!) I'm happy that I could play Liza, a possessed girl in the 1920 and now play a modern contemporary character like Pri.
How could this naturally gorgeous, graceful woman feel anything other than totally confident in herself? She is just two films old, her horrifying (pun intended) debut in Vikram Bhatt's 1920 and her next release. Now have some patience! I will reveal the film's name in the next few lines. Yes, she is super confident when you meet her but she often gives a little shrug. I clearly remember what she told me the second time I met this cute and eye-catching actress, "I was hated by all but loved by many." The feeling that something was amiss persisted, even into her twenties but she was sure that the feeling of an apt film was lurking around the corner in the form of Pri and Me, her second film. For a start, she is quite exquisitely beautiful, with milk-white skin and wide, dark brown eyes. There is also the matter of her style. Dressed in shorts, her denims, her flowing dress, her traditional Indian punjabi or her dungarees, she exudes the kind of nonchalant glamour that the Indians, particularly Indian actresses, are so prone to. Adah Sharma is an artist who has a tremendously healthy ambition to do really great work, no matter what film she signs. She is an example of someone whose dedication to the craft of acting far outshines her status as a celebrity. And that you may wonder how I know. Well, you need to meet a person in order to judge them, right? She's a great and real person who doesn't fall into the movie stardom cliche, not yet. But she sure knows that you can give a great performance but you can't give the heart of an actress without real authenticity. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent bring you Adah Sharma clicked by Luv Israni in her second outing, Pri and Me.
Good to be back in front of the camera after a year and a half? How does it feel?
It feels fantastic! If it were up to me, I'm so greedy I would have a release every Friday of the year. I'm completing my final year graduation now and will soon announce 2 more movies I've almost officially signed. I'm very superstitious so till I begin shooting for a film or a commercial, I don't like to publicly speak about it.
