Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum starrer 2020 hit fantasy drama, Tale of the Nine-Tailed is gearing up for its second season in full throttle and the makers have released another teaser for their upcoming sequel Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938!

Starring Lee Dong Wook, Jo Bo Ah, and Kim Bum, 2020 fantasy drama Tale of the Nine-Tailed tells the story of a mythical nine-tailed fox Yi Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) in a modern era. The new mysterious poster features Yi Yeon stranded in 1938 Japan. Director Kang Shin Hyo and scriptwriter Han Woo Ri from Season 1 will be reuniting for the new project.

As the Korean tabloid Soompi notes, though Yi Yeon ended up with his love interest Nam Ji Ah (Jo Bo Ah) in Season 1, he will get swept up in an unexpected incident and get summoned to the year of 1938. The new season will depict Yi Yeon’s desperate struggle to return to present day where all the people precious to him are.

In the new teaser, Lee Dong Wook’s Yi Yeon relives both the good and bad memories of the past. The teaser opens with Yi Yeon introducing himself, “I’m Yi Yeon. I’m this generation’s hero,” as translated by Soompi. With the mission to find the guardian stone and return before it's too late, Yi Yeon is caught off guard as he arrives in the vastly different year of 1938.

He then meets former Mountain Goddess of the West Ryu Hong Joo (Kim So Yeon), who welcomes him saying, “I’m pretty but also good at fighting.” Yi Yeon is deeply disturbed by his 1938 self, who is seen grieving over Ah Reum's (Jo Bo Ah) passing, lamenting, "Why can't you be reborn?"

The teaser goes on to introduce other characters, including Yi Yeon's rebellious younger half-brother, Yi Rang (Kim Bum), his former best friend and former Mountain God of the North, Cheon Moo Young (Ryu Kyung Soo), and a cunning new villain with malicious plans. Yi Yeon concludes by stating, “Past relationships—good and evil—begin anew.”

Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 is slated to premiere on May 6 at 9:20 p.m. KST as a follow-up to Pandora: Beneath the Paradise. The tvN drama will air every Saturday-Sunday. Watch the new teaser trailer below!
