JTBC's newest rom-com, My Sweet Mobster, promises a delightful collision of worlds as a reformed gangster and a bubbly children's content creator find themselves drawn to each other. Premiering on June 12th, the series stars Um Tae Goo and Han Seon Hwa in a heartwarming story of redemption, second chances, and of course, love.
Um Tae Goo sheds his tough-guy image to portray Seo Ji Hwan, a man with a surprising past. Once a powerful mob boss, Seo Ji Hwan has undergone a major transformation. Leaving his criminal life behind, he has become the CEO of a social enterprise dedicated to dismantling gangs and offering reformed ex-convicts a fresh start.
Ji hwan's journey of redemption takes him across Korea, where he disbands criminal organizations and provides employment opportunities for released gang members. This humanitarian mission showcases a different side of Seo Ji hwan, one driven by a desire to make amends and help others avoid the pitfalls he himself experienced.
On the other side of the spectrum is Ko Eun Ha, played by the effervescent Han Seon Hwa. Eun Ha is a beacon of positivity, her heart overflowing with love for children. She channels this passion into her successful YouTube channel, where she creates engaging and heartwarming content specifically for kids.
Eun Ha's cheerful disposition stems from fond childhood memories, particularly those involving a cherished playmate – a boy who was always there for her. Little does she know, this childhood friend is none other than Seo Ji Hwan, whose past life remains a secret.
While the exact details of their encounter remain under wraps, the trailer hints at a heartwarming connection blossoming between them. The series is helmed by directors Kim Young Hwan and Kim Woo Hyun, a duo known for their ability to craft engaging narratives. Scriptwriter Na Gyeong takes the reins on the story, promising a script filled with humor, heartwarming moments, and the inevitable challenges that come with navigating an unconventional love story.
My Sweet Mobster is slated to air on both JTBC and the streaming platform TVING, with the international streaming platform yet to be announced.
