Following a blockbuster year with the hit series Reborn Rich, Korean superstar Song Joong Ki-starrer confirmed in December 2022 that he is in a relationship with a non-celebrity British woman. Turns out, he was dating former British actress Katy Louise Saunders. Now, the actor has confirmed that they have registered their marriage and expecting their first child.

In a heartfelt note written on the fan café, Song Joong Ki announced that he has registered his marriage with British actress Katy Louise Saunders and they are expecting their first child. The note read, as translated by Soompi from Korean to English, “Hello. This is Joong Ki. Today, I am greeting you because I want to share a promise that is more happy and valuable to me than anything. I have promised to continue life together with Katy Louise Saunders, who has been by my side supporting me and who I have spent valuable time with while cherishing each other. She has a kind heart, and she has lived her life passionately. She is a sensible and amazing person to the point that I revere her. Thanks to her, I am becoming a better person. We naturally dreamed of creating a happy family together. We have put in much effort to keep each other’s promises, and we are sincerely thankful as a new life has come to us.”

The actor revealed that they registered their marriage on January 30. “And today, based on our deep trust and love for each other, we are on our way back from registering our marriage to begin life as a married couple. As we are now, the two of us will walk our days ahead beautifully while facing the same direction.”

Thanking the fans for supporting them, the Reborn Rich actor added, “I sincerely thank all the fans who always cherish me no matter what. Especially following the wishes and support of Ki Aile (Song Joong Ki’s fan club) who provide the greatest strength to me throughout my acting career, I will work to fly higher as an actor and individual with the wings of greater responsibility and passion. Song Joong Ki and his girlfriend have been seen together on numerous occasions including at airports, etc. She was recently seen with him at the media conference of Reborn Rich that was held in Singapore on December 7. He had previously mentioned the name "Katy" earlier in September at an award function. The actor attended the APAN Star Awards this year where he was awarded for his performance in Vincenzo. During his acceptance speech, he went on to thank his family and others he had worked with. Towards the end, he also said, "And my beloved Katy, Nalla, Maya, Antes. All of our friends who blessed us. I want to say, I sincerely love you." The couple were also spotted attending weddings together, pictures of which surfaced online.

Song Joong Ki was previously married to Descendants of the Sun (2016) co-star Song Hye Kyo. They parted ways after a year and nine months.
