Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Orlando Bloom are set to headline the upcoming survival thriller Reset, directed by Matt Smukler. The project is expected to go on floors in August, while international sales for the film will be launched by Fortitude International at the Marché du Film in Cannes.
Written by Jordan Rawlins, Reset revolves around a woman, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who wakes up alone in the middle of a remote wilderness with no recollection of how she got there. As she struggles to survive and uncover the truth, she crosses paths with a mysterious stranger portrayed by Orlando Bloom. However, as the story progresses, questions arise over whether he can truly be trusted.
Speaking about casting the lead actors, director Matt Smukler said, “I was looking for a pairing where attraction and mistrust could effortlessly coexist. Priyanka and Orlando have this uncanny ability to make you believe both at once. Their chemistry is undeniable.”
The film will be produced by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber under their Fratricidal Films banner along with Michael Lazarovitch for Chemically Altered and Matthew Rhodes of Rhodes Entertainment. Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ production house Purple Pebble Pictures and Orlando Bloom’s Amazing Owl are also attached to the project. Nadine de Barros will serve as executive producer.
Producers Jon and Erich Hoeber added, “Jordan Rawlins and Matt Smukler have created a gripping story of survival, romance, suspense, and deceit, replete with shocking twists, and we’re thrilled to have partnered with Priyanka and Orlando to bring it to the screen.”
The film further expands Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ growing international slate. The actress was recently seen in The Bluff, which reportedly debuted at the top spot-on Prime Video globally. Before that, she starred alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in Heads of State. She also executive produced and starred in The White Tiger, which earned an Oscar nomination. Up next, Priyanka will feature in Season 2 of Citadel and in Varanasi directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
Meanwhile, Orlando Bloom was recently seen in The Cut and Deep Cover. He is also set to appear alongside Rooney Mara and Kate Mara in Bucking Fastard directed by Werner Herzog.
Reset is expected to be one of the key international projects unveiled at Cannes this year, further strengthening Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ presence in global cinema both as an actor and producer.
