A few of upcoming Star Wars films from Marvel president Kevin Feige and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins are reportedly no longer in development.
Kevin Feige and Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars films no longer in developmentThe potential films were first announced back in September 2019 but according Variety, they’ve now been shelved. The movies remained alive until May 2022, when screenwriter Michael Waldron told the outlet that he’d started working on a Star Wars screenplay for Feige.
“I’m enjoying having the freedom on that to do something that’s not necessarily a sequel or anything,” Waldron said at the time. Meanwhile, in December 2020, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy announced that Jenkins would direct the next Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron.
However, in September 2022, the film saw its production delayed and then eventually pushed back again last year. As per sources, the film is no longer in active development at the studio. Jenkins also expressed uncertainty about the film, saying she didn’t “know if it will happen or not.”
On the other hand, it is being reported that despite such setbacks, production still continues on Taika Waititi’s Star Wars film. It is being said that the Thor: Love and Thunder and Thor: Ragnarok director is planning to star in his own film! The filmmaker is no stranger to Star Wars universe as he had also directed several episodes of The Mandalorian.
Variety shares that Lucasfilm is “committed” to a Star Wars film from Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof and Oscar-winning Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Additionally, there’s also the potential Star Wars film from Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy. Let’s see what the future holds for our beloved Star Wars franchise.
