Back in March 2023, it was reported that filmmaker James Gunn is set to direct a new Superman movie. In April 2023, Superman: Legacy officially entered the pre-production stage. The new entry, which Gunn wrote and will direct, is slated for release on July 11, 2025. Now, the makers have announced the cast of the movie and who will play the new Superman and Lois Lane. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will play their respective parts in the movie.
David Corenswet, who had his breakout moment in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Hollywood, will play reporter Clark Kent at the fictional newspaper The Daily Planet and Superman. Rachel Brosnahan will be his coworker Lois Lane.
As per Variety, “Gunn is directing the project from his own screenplay, based on the character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Peter Safran will produce. The project is set for release on July 11, 2025.”
Superman: Legacy marks the beginning of a new era in the DCU, with Gunn and Peter Safran leading the charge in creating a cohesive universe of interconnected films and TV shows.
